Toft is a potterer who often works with the subjects of mermaids, unicorns, pelicans, but also King Charles II and his wife Queen Catherine of Braganza, and numerous coats of arms. Often using the style of cross-hatching, especially on the rims. He had this concept which contrasted between the real on the surreal. His work is also fairly abstract and inspired me to keep that theme going. Cross over patterns were of high influencing also and I really liked his old, right finishes to the plates.
